Th’expence of Spirit in a waste of shame
Is lust in action, and till action, lust
Is perjur’d, extreme, rude, cruel, not to trust,
Enjoyed no sooner but despised straight,
Past reason hunted, and no sooner had
Past reason hated as a swallow’d bait
On purpose lay’d to make the taker mad.
Mad in pursuit and in possession so,
Had, having, and in quest to have extreme,
A bliss in proof, and proved, and very woe,
Before a joy proposed behind a dream,
All this the world well knows yet none knows well,
To shun the heaven that leads men to this hell.

Long time since I made a post...

Okay -- so I've been trying to lose weight. Let the record show that I could not have a more reasonable conception of what is ideal for my height, age, gender, body type, and all that jazz. In fact, I don't mind being on the high end of "medium" end of the spectrum, either, because I realize I have boobs and a butt, and those are going to remain and I am not exactly displeased with this.

But alright. I'm 5 feet, 3.5 inches. The "ideal" body weight for my height, age and gender hovers around 125. I would like to meet this mark (this means losing 5-10 pounds). Hopefully lose a little unwanted... "stuff"... and just tone some areas. o_O

I've been kind-of-sort-of trying to do this for a long time... only, with the past school year being the way it was, I had a TERRIBLE schedule whereby eating late at night was the norm for two days a week. Some days I didn't eat all day until I came home at like... 9pm. Plus, there's something about freezing cold weather that doesn't sit well with me going out for a stroll (I was never able to benefit from the Athletic Centre at UT because when I was down there, I was down there for loads of classes).

And worst of all, I've been finding it difficult to deal with my family's eating habits, which haven't been particularly good as of late. In actuality, we eat meat maybe like... 4 out of the 7 days of the week. And since my grandparents can't really stomach much now, we're eating a lot more soups... we have lentils once a week too. Heh. But the problem is, my parents keep bringing home lots of sweets / chocolate and it's sitting right there in front of me... and soup 3 days in a row is not filling, so I have to cook for myself on the side and sometimes I want to take those shortcuts. (See: yet another reason why I need to live on my own. Because they like buying food in bulk and get pissed off when I suggest getting ingredients for something I want to make.)

Anyway, I'm disgruntled because (and I check my weight often now because I know it's not unusual for one's weight to waver on the scale) I've essentially lost a pound... over two weeks. I say two weeks, because it's REALLY been two weeks since I've started really actively trying to lose weight. Like... not eating any junk period (okay -- I think I've had a piece of chocolate). Also, brisk-walking for at least 30 minutes a day followed by some other exercizes. And I do not eat out. Ever. I also never drink soda / pop. Or booze.

SO WHAT THE HELL IS THE PROBLEM. I want to burn more than a pound every two weeks, goddamnit. Like, a pound a week would be nice and is supposed to be obtainable.

So I broke Robarts... so what?! [Feb. 13th, 2007|05:57 pm]
A long awaited entry. Ryan's been dying for me to post about this, and tell the world about my embarrassing adventures.

The title is true -- as Ryan so eloquently put it, I "broke Robarts".

For those of you who don't know what Robarts is, it's a behemoth at the centre of U of T (or the Mammon of Satan's Pandæmonium, if you will)... the, allegedly, most frightening library on the planet... home to 14 floors of books, computers, photocopiers, and student supplies vending machines. Built in the 70s, it was designed to systematically destroy students in the event of a fire (WHERE ARE THE STAIRS, DAMNIT?) or student demonstrations (that's what the tiny escalators are for). Although it was supposed to be modelled on a peacock, at night it best resembles the Death Star.

A trip to Robarts with Ryan and myself usually means that Ryan is going to try to get me caught in the middle of Robarts' revolving doors. Previous times, I wasn't as prepared, but got away... but last night... man, I was READY. I was ready for him to push the doors back as I forced myself forward. He did it, but I got out... BOOYEAH. And then an idea struck me...

I should do the same to him. So I pushed a door against him in an effort to close him in... and then SUDDENLY THE DOOR STARTS COMING OUT OF THE CENTRE! Like, I practically pushed down one of the revolving doors. There was a loud grinding / moaning sound of the door and everything, as if it were the Titanic sinking. Had it actually fallen, Ryan could've been stuck in there good.

At first, I think Ryan was apprehensive about pushing the doors more to get out. o_O But he managed to. Naturally, our first reaction was to run the fuck out of there as soon as he got out. It was strangely exhilarating, though I half expected our little venture to end with music from Cops. BAD BOY, WHATCHA GONNA DO? WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THEY COME FOR YOU?
